Spring has sprung and as nature starts to shift gears, the body wants to follow suit. There is an innate mirroring in this process as green shoots are starting to push through the earth, spuds are sprouting on the trees, the lakes and rivers start to turn, nature everywhere is waking up and shifting gears.sprout_earth_grass_plant_hd-wallpaper-47693

Ayurveda suggest that there is a relationship between the 5 elements and our bodies, actually ayurveda would say that we are made up of the 5 elements-Space, Air, Fire, Water, Earth. Our bodies are nourished with foods from the Earth, and eventually, our body returns to the earthly matter from which it came. Water is our life-sustaining nectar, making up more than 70 percent of our total body mass. Fire provides the body with heat and radiant energy and exists within all metabolic and chemical actions. Air flows freely throughout the body, giving movement to biological functions and feeding every cell with oxygen. Space is ever-present in the background, providing the other elements with an opportunity to interact in this way.

Shift gears this Spring and follow the lead of nature and support the body with a cleanse. Doing a cleanse in the spring and fall are optimal times of year, especially the spring- ‘spring-cleaning’. Our bodies naturally connect to this urge as we want to clean our space (home, yards, office). When the body is supported in a cleanse, we can release deeply rooted AMA (undigested food, toxins and the layers we’ve accumulated over the year). This process of cleansing is essential otherwise we continue to harbour dis-ease and sickness and just don’t feel good. For many of us the AMA is deeply rooted and it takes time, sometimes years of continued cleansing, eating whole live foods and creating healthier habits before we start to feel better-have patience and stay committed to your health.

Why won’t my body cleanse naturally?

The truth is that the body it’s trying to cleanse, especially in the Spring and the Fall. But with our busy day to day lives our bodies get easily disconnected and lose the ability to cleanse naturally; first of all we are exactly that-we are so busy!  Our bodies are so overexposed to chemicals, pesticides, additives, toxins and denatured food, and we lack sleep amongst many other things.  A cleanse supports the body in getting re-connected so it can heal and rejuvenate as nature intended. I don’t believe in being a purist but I have experience first hand and with hundreds of clients the benefits of doing a regular cleanse.

  • carrying extra layers (fat)
